LAKE BENTON AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Initial steps to organize a historical society in Lake Benton were taken in July of 1996. Shortly thereafter, in the spring of 1997, plans were underway to construct a Heritage Center which would include a visitors center, a museum, and a wind power learning center. The facility was completed in the summer of 2001 and is now open to the public. The Society’s mission is the collection, preservation and dissemination of knowledge about the history of the Lake Benton area and to relate that history to the State of Minnesota. THE LAKE BENTON AREA FOUNDATION
The Lake Benton Area Foundation (LBAF) was established in 2006 to keep our community thriving. We have a permanent endowment fund created by many donors that share our vision and want to support our community. We help make Lake Benton an even greater place to live, work and play by awarding grants to worthy recipients throughout the year. We're here to help people - those who want to improve our community - whether you are an individual, a business, or an organization. By gathering and effectively managing gifts of all sizes, we give community members, both current and past, the opportunity to leave a legacy while ensuring Lake Benton will remain a vibrant, promising place. LIONS CLUB
Lake Benton Lions Club was organized in 1967. The mission of the world-wide organization is to be of service to the blind. Locally, the Club donates approximately 80 per cent of the funds they raise to help individuals who need assistance with medical expenses; for community projects, and other worthy requests. Much of the support the Lions provide is derived from the proceeds they receive through the six "Pancake Days" that are held during the year (the first Sunday of each month October through March). Serving is from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Lake Benton Center Post.
LAKE IMPROVEMENT FOR EVERYONE (L.I.F.E.)
Lake Improvement For Everyone is a local lake association which is continually involved in projects to improve the water quality of Lake Benton. They meet at regular intervals to keep their membership informed and to progressively support programs beneficial to the lake, its residents, and those who make use of this asset throughout the year. The association sponsors an annual fishing tournament (fourth Saturday in June) and a boat parade in July.
